Salvation Army Clitheroe.

Sometime's even the most respected "religious" people need to be held accountable.

August 10th 2007 the largest drug rehab in Alaska, Salvation Army Clitheroe, shut it's Detox with only a few hours notice.
Clients were kicked out in the middle of their detox.
Surprised staff were given generous severance pay.

The previous day, the AK Department of Labor had asked the Salvation Army about complaints of abuses by Salvation Army directors.

The Salvation Army blamed cash and staffing problems (Click here).

The government was giving the Alaska Salvation Army more than enough to pay for all of Anchorage's Detox needs.

In addition, the local Salvation Army was billing hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to insurance companies and others for the same services.

[This website focuses on the poor level of service at Salvation Army Clitheroe rather than financial irregularities.]

In 2007, Government agencies gave Salvation Army Clitheroe $4,000,000.

  • This website was made for an EEOC complaint here.
The complaint has been dropped as of April 2009, (since I cannot afford legal help).

  • March, 2009.
A new "Specialized Treatment Unit" is apparently replacing Clitheroe Center's defunct Detox unit.

The Specialized Treatment Unit has received no publicity yet.

Again, millions of tax dollars are sliding quietly under the table.
